Porcelain Veneers

What are teeth veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that cover teeth to close gaps and eliminate imperfections. If you have stained, chipped, or misshapen teeth and want a completely custom solution to rekindle your smile, porcelain veneers may be right for you.

Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. Dr. Colaruotolo has extensive training and would love to see you and answer any questions you may have during a consultation visit. She designs each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile and personality.

Will dental veneers look like normal teeth?

Absolutely! When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin conservative veneers are virtually undetectable so they look and feel completely natural. They are also highly resistant to stains so your smile will stay beautiful.

How durable are porcelain veneers?

With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade.

Dr. Colaruotolo will talk with you about your options for veneers. She will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available.

Are veneers painful to get?

The process of getting veneers is typically painless. Local anesthesia may be used during preparation, and most patients report little to no discomfort after the procedure.

Porcelain veneers procedure

Porcelain veneers require three visits to design, create and place. Here’s what you can expect:

Diagnosis and treatment planning: Dr. Colaruotolo will examine your smile and discuss your expectations. She will go over the details of the procedure and help you plan your new look.

Preparation (approximately 2 hours): Dr. Colaruotolo conservatively removes a small amount of enamel, about one-half of a millimeter, from each tooth receiving a veneer, and she will fit you with temporaries. Enamel removal sometimes requires a small amount of local anesthesia, but many patients need no numbing. We’ll take an impression of your smile and send it to a trusted lab where a skilled ceramist will customize your veneers by hand. Your completed restorations will be ready in approximately two to three weeks.

Bonding (1-2 hours): At your third appointment, Dr. Colaruotolo will remove the temporaries, then place the porcelain veneers on your teeth to check their fit and color. She can adjust veneer color by tinting the bonding material. Once the color meets your approval, Dr. Colaruotolo will clean your tooth to ensure a tight bond with the veneer. She will use bonding cement to permanently affix your veneers and revitalize your smile.

Follow-Up Care and Maintenance

You’ll return for a follow-up visit after one to two weeks to Brittany Colaruotolo, DDS, PLLC office. Brush and floss as normal. We suggest you use non-abrasive toothpaste. Don’t be afraid that you’ll damage your veneers by cleaning them. A good home care regimen will ensure optimal durability and appearance.
